SOGNO is a new LFE project that aims at facilitating the transition to a modular microservices based automation software solution for distribution system operators. It includes a real-time simulator that enables developers to thoroughly test new automation functions against a virtual representation of the power system before interfacing it to the real grid. Markus Mirz and Antonello Monti talk about the motivation for developing SOGNO as a set of microservices. They present services that are already available, their use cases and the next steps for the project.
