Electricity is entering a new age where utilities do not monopolize generation and trade anymore, where individuals can engage into generation and trade with other individuals or with the system, where communities can combine the engagement of individual members and benefit from ‘scale & scope’ economies. It is a world of transactive electricity, ranging from pure ‘peer-to-peer’ to various forms of communities. In this context, the panel will provide the audience with a few insights on how digitalization is transforming the energy sector and its transition to a decentralized and decarbonized future, by enabling new forms of transactions and coordination. Jean-Michel Glachant, Director of FSR, will introduce the panel and moderate it. Nicolò Rossetto, researcher at FSR, will speak about energy communities. Laurent Schmitt, founder and CEO of Digital4Grids, will present how carbon tracking can be extended up to retail-size assets, further empowering consumers and prosumers. Valerie Reif, researcher at FSR, will refer to the challenges of DSO-TSO information exchanges. Golnoush Soroush, researcher at FSR, will talk about energy system integration. Each panellist will provide a few short statements. After that, a Q&A session will close the panel.
