Tobias Augspurger and the protontypes community have launched a unique effort to track all active and sustainable open source projects worldwide. Thus, decision-makers, engineers and scientists can get an overview of which open and environmentally friendly technology projects exist in order to cooperate, strengthen transparent decision making and spread innovations in areas like renewable energies worldwide. In addition, it will also highlight areas where innovation is lacking and projects need further support. We want to share the experiences we made during the creation of OpenSustain.tech with the open-source community to identify future tasks, opportunities and risks: * Standing on the Shoulder of Giants * The discovery problem of Open Source Projects * The genesis of OpenSustain.tech * Hidden gems and new champions * How make OpenSustain.tech a self-sustainable community project.
