We are entering the era of the ecosystem and service economy, with offerings increasingly driven by a network effect spanning multiple entities and backed by a significant service component. Leading providers will be those that create differentiated value through services, domain knowledge and necessarily unique software and hardware — not those that are reinventing foundational infrastructure over and over again. This applies to all verticals, and especially the energy space as macro challenges require industry collaboration to enable providers to thrive while enabling better experiences for end consumers. As part of this it is critical to foster both open interoperability and develop tools to ensure trust and data confidence. In this session, Jason will talk to key considerations for building data, security and orchestration software infrastructure for the energy market through open source collaboration. He will also share lessons-learned from seeding and helping to grow the Linux Foundation’s EdgeX Foundry project which recently surpassed 7 million global downloads. Finally, he will share insights on how LF Energy’s mission can be further accelerated by through complementary efforts in the technology ecosystem.
