George Blumberg

Oxford Brookes University
Dr George Blumberg is a senior lecturer in the School of the Built Environment. He was educated at the George Washington University as a mechanical engineer and subsequently worked in the construction industry as a site surveyor. He later became the head engineer of the Marine Seismic Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and was awarded a master degree (SM) based on seismic exploration of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. After a stint as an environmental consultant, he received a DPhil at the University of Oxford, where his thesis was on the frequency and severity of heat waves in urban centres. His current interests are in automation in the construction process with specialization in the application of Blockchains to construction and engineering. He has extensive teaching and research experience and currently leads the blockchain development group at his universtiy.
