James Gula is a retired engineer with many years of experience in the computer industry with Western Digital, Corollary, Inc, and Intel. In 2016 he got involved with off-grid electricity, joining the IEEE P2030.10 standard for rural and remote DC microgrids, taking over as system architecture lead and primary author of the standard. In 2020 he and Martin Jäger launched the Open DC Grid project to create a standard for microgrids using open-source methods.
