FREEDM at NC State
Director of Industry and Innovation
Ken is Director of Industry and Innovation at the FREEDM Systems Center, a smart grid research center headquartered at NC State. In this role, he manages industry relationships for the Center, promotes the commercialization of center-developed technologies, and helps students make connections for internships or full time employment. He also manages Center marketing activities including website, newsletter, and conference trade show booth. He loves working with students, but wishes they would keep the break room clean. Prior to this role, Ken worked in air quality and industrial energy efficiency. He holds a BS in Physics from Furman University, a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech, and a Masters in ME from the University of Texas at Austin. Ken regularly gives presentations on FREEDM technologies and provides lab tours to campus visitors. His most recent presentations were for Microgrid 2020, the Professional Engineers of North Carolina, NC State's Energy Week, and to the LF Energy Architecture Working Group in July 2020.
